Born in New Orleans, LA, Dave's background is as varied as the sights and sounds of the historic French Quarter. As a freshman in college, Dave entered the Christian Brothers and studied in Santa Fe, NM. He later returned to New Orleans and graduated from Loyola University. After graduation, he worked in Loyola's Finance Department for nine years before opening his first business in 1984 – an art gallery in the French Quarter named after his sister and himself – Elizabeth-Alexander Gallery. But something kept calling him…
Mrs. Abadie, his second grade teacher, had become a trusted friend over the years. When her husband died of cancer Dave made a promise to her that he would work with cancer patients. That promise was fulfilled in 1995 when Dave graduated from LSU Medical Center in Nursing and started his career in the Oncology Unit of Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. For seven years Dave was a trusted, compassionate servant to a host of patients and their families. Many life lessons were learned in his nursing career but the one that stood out above all others came from one of his patients who cautioned him to “Remember, this is not a dress rehearsal. We must all live the most out of our lives, because we never know when this life may be cut short.”
Dave took those words to heart and in 1997 pursued a career in Real Estate. His love of architecture, helping people achieve their dreams of home ownership and the process toward that end has honed Dave's negotiating skills and his “win – win” philosophy in listing and selling homes and houses.
Now, celebrating over 10 years as a Realtor, Dave's commitment to his clients continues. His work as a Realtor in Bay St. Louis and Waveland, MS and as the owner of maggie may's – a gallery of southern art and American craft - allowed him to not only meet people from all walks of life, but to help them in home staging , listing and buying homes.
When Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast on August 29th, 2005 Hancock County alone saw over 16,000 homes wiped off the map. Dave rebuilt maggie may's as well as his home, since both structures survived the hurricane's wind and water. But, in 2007, Nashville called him to experience its uniqueness and continuing growth. Nashville's rich history, her music, her emerging examples of new urbanism and status as one of the top 25 art cities in America drew Dave and his business partner to open maggie may's – off the coast in Lenox Village, the new traditional neighborhood development off Nolensville Road.
Here, in Nashville, the journey continues. The journey of helping people, with caring and concern, diligence and perseverance, to find homes and sell houses continues now through his affiliation with Village Real Estate Services. At Village, real estate services are coupled with community giving as we work toward helping people find their place and always remembering that this is not a dress rehearsal.
